Add a little flare to your costume and pick out a pair of sunglasses or funky hats as you drive through the city.

We visited Tokyo last month, and street karting was on our list of must-try activities! We booked the tour a week before our visit, and the team was very communicative, providing all the information we needed (IDP, what to bring, do's and don'ts) before the day. On the day of our tour, it was raining, and the street kart team messaged us with options on whether we still wanted to go ahead. Our time slot was in the afternoon, so we took a chance and waited out the rain, which I'm so glad we did! By the time we started driving, the rain had slowed down, and the afternoon weather was much cooler, making the ride even better. Our guide was amazing. He was very kind, informative, and made us feel incredibly safe on the roads. He turned the tour into an unforgettable adventure, taking us around Tokyo and through the Shibuya crossing. We had so many people taking photos and waving at us—it was so exciting! Driving around wasn’t as scary as it seemed, as other road users were very cautious and respectful of our presence. It was definitely a fun, enjoyable, and once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I'm so happy we went ahead despite the rain—it made the experience even more special.Thank you to the street kart team, especially the guide, for making this our favorite and most memorable experience in Japan! 🥰
StreetKart Shibuya was a fantastic experience—definitely one that I would highly recommend to everyone (with a valid license)—age no bar!Be forewarned, they are VERY strict about the rules, so if you don’t have the original, valid international driver’s license/permit and your local/international ID documents (passport), they will not allow you to drive the kart. My wife and I made the mistake of forgetting ours in our hotel rooms, even though we had digital copies, and had to return to get the original documents. I was actually quite impressed by their attention to detail. That said, they also gave a detailed (and super fun!) safety briefing, carefully walking us through not only the go-kart but also the traffic rules, signs, and emergency procedures. The actual driving experience that followed was smooth as butter. Everyone was calm, and we all had such a great time pushing the pedal to the metal and revving the VROOM on the tarmac.I’m not sure if you’ll be as lucky as us to have a guide like ours, but if you do, you're in great hands and bound to have a blast! The guide was absolutely on point—a fantastic instructor, a careful driver, but also a really fun leader! We had such a great time that we’re planning to go back for more, and if possible, we’ll request the same guide again as our squad leader.A fantastic experience overall! Loved every bit of it.
A Must-Do Tokyo Experience: Thrills, Fun, and Unforgettable Memories!Go-karting is definitely a must-do, popular activity in Tokyo. Dressing up in your favorite character costume and driving through the city is an awesome experience and a memory that will last for years to come. As you drive through the city, you are sure to be admired and cheered on by plenty of onlookers.A few points to note for the go-karting experience:Make sure you get a valid international driving license for driving in Japan before your arrival. You must get this license in your own country, not in Japan. While we were there, one couple arrived with an unrecognized international driving license and were declined from joining the tour. They asked if they could get an international license in Japan, but the answer was no—come back next time with a valid license. There is a height restriction of 150-180 cm, and the weight limit is under 100 kg (drivers over that weight are permitted, but the kart will be slower). You need to be 18 years of age or older to join. I was too young (just kidding!) but I chickened out and decided to take a rain check on this tour.Be sure to book your tour online in advance. We made our booking a month in advance.A brief tutorial on driving the karts will be given at the shop. Don’t worry about driving on the unfamiliar streets in Tokyo—your tour guide will follow and guide you throughout the entire experience. Just relax and enjoy driving the kart on the preset routes.Remember to drive on the left side of the street in Tokyo.Don’t be late! Make sure to arrive at the shop on time, or they will go without you! While standing outside the big Donki store in Shibuya, I saw my son driving the brilliant red go-kart in his bright yellow costume. He was smiling happily, enjoying the cheers from many onlookers. His beaming smile was worth a million to me! At the end of the tour, he was given a video stored on a memory card to keep as a souvenir.
This is a must-do if you are in Shibuya. Our guide was awesome, and running around the streets at night on go-karts was so much fun. Totally recommend this fun activity!
Street Kart Shibuya was an absolutely fantastic experience. I’ve wanted to do this for a few years now, and the experience completely surpassed my expectations. The staff were lovely throughout, from ensuring safety to guiding us on the road, and making sure everyone enjoyed themselves. I truly enjoyed my experience, and I would highly recommend doing the Street Kart tour if you're interested. Thank you, guys!!!!!
I saw this happening last time I was in Tokyo and thought I’d give it a try. What a cool experience! Our guide gave our group a tour of Shibuya and took quite a few pictures of us. Hitting up Shibuya Crossing in our slick outfits and red go-karts was pretty awesome.
Such an amazing time karting along the roads of Shibuya, Tokyo. Stopping and waiting at Shibuya Scramble Crossing was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you to our guide for making it super fun!
Our guide was exceptional, taking us through the central area of Shibuya without any issues. This experience was one of the best parts of our trip to Japan, highly recommend 100%! (Make sure to dress up!)
I was nervous in the beginning, but our guide made us feel safe and comfortable while ensuring we had a fun ride through the streets of Shibuya. Driving a kart through Tokyo is kind of absurd, but it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
